Here I was kind of on the fringes of the negotiations, which were largely led by Deputy Kavlikova. I don't know the final form of the agreement, but I'd rather soften expectations. It's called a "megaproject." I would never use such adjectives. But at the same time, I'm not going to complain. Current negotiations indicate that Taiwan is willing to fund our establishment of two research centers here and provide our students with the opportunity to study at their universities for free.
This is undoubtedly a success for our diplomacy. The Germans had to pay TSMC to build Italy WhatsApp Number List a factory in Saxony along with other entities. We also assume that TSMC's factory in Dresden does not use the latest technology available to TSMC. The Intel factory in Magdeburg should be technologically several generations ahead. But the business isn't just about state-of-the-art production technology. The price/performance equation must be considered.
Older production processes are not the most technologically advanced, but they are cheaper (sometimes significantly). I don't think the location of the TSMC factory about fifty kilometers from our border is a major failure. The Czech Republic is interested in operating the European Chip Competence Center. At what stage? Financial resources are being sought for state co-financing. If we want to obtain maximum European funding for the centre, then co-financing should be at least € 0,000 (approx. SEK 1,000,000) per year.
